The Adventures of Solid Foods

Yesterday I fed Ezekiel his first bite of solid food! I was so excited! I gave him some bites of avacado, and he seemed to like it ok. He kept wanting more, which surprised me. I thought he would fight me off. He was really hungry though, so that could have made the food more appealing. He kinda gagged a couple times and my heart started pounding, and my mind began to race about how I really should have taken the time to learn baby CPR...but he was fine :) I tried feeding him again this afternoon and it was a bit harder. At first he kinda fussed about going in the highchair, but he soon found it to be fun when he realized he could dangle and kick his feet over the end of the chair. He also loved sucking and biting on his sippy cup (it probably feels good on those upcoming teeth), even though he gagged on his water a bit too. I'm used to that one though. When I gave him his first bite of avacado, he quickly reached for the spoon again in excitement to feed himself and popped it all in his mouth. His excited expression quickly turned disgruntled when he began tasting and gagging on the avacado. Does this face look familiar to any of you....

Again, I thought to myself, "AH! I still don't know CPR!" and once again, he was fine. However, he was very uninterested in the food after that point, but was thrilled about "pretend" feeding himself with the spoon. I don't want to force the whole process on him at once, so we'll just try again tomorrow. :) Baby steps right? :) I have to say he looked pretty adorable in his little bib, and he did a pretty good job using the spoon too! I wasn't ready for that either....but my heart is beaming in this whole adventure as I stand a very pround mama. :)

Oh my gosh! He looks just like YOU when you get grumpy!! :) That is so cute. I can't believe he is old enough to be eating food now. Way to go mama at just going with the flow and having fun with him along the way! I'm super impressed that you posted on your blog again too :) I was just thinking how I need to take a CPR refresher, maybe we should do it together? Lovin' you today,
Kris

P.S.
Did you ever figure out about storing the avacado?

My sister, Debbie, gave me your blog site and I really enjoyed reading it. Hope you do not mind. Will love hearing all about you and your family, Zeke is so adorable, I would just love to hold him and play. Of course, I am a little partial to little boys, wonder why? Keep up the blog so that we can all keep up with the three of you even though the distance is so far.

Did you receive the stuffed animal I sent last week. It was not much, but I had alot of fun making it and thinking about Zeke while I did it.

Have a great day, and keep up with everything and maybe someday we will meet.

Love you all, Aunt Peggy
